Nigeria WAFCON 2022: Waldrum Attacks Nigeria Media After Botswana Win

After the Super Falcons’ 2-0 victory over the Mares of Botswana on Thursday night at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco, head coach Randy Waldrum attacked the Nigerian media.

The game in Rabat was lopsided, with the reigning champions controlling play.
It was an improvement from their initial competition game loss, which they suffered by a score of 2-1 to the South African team Banyana Banyana.

After receiving a lovely pass from diligent midfielder Halimat Ayinde, Ifeoma Onumonu gave the Super Falcons the lead in the 21st minute when she outran her defenders and sent the ball beyond the oncoming goalie Maitumelo Bosija.

Substitute three minutes after the half, Christy Ucheibe scored to put Botswana out of the match.

Media in Nigeria is very negative. We don’t want distraction in our team,”Waldrum said at the post match press conference.

We are trying to qualify for the World Cup and the teams must be isolated.”

The Super Falcons will take on Burundi in their final group game on Sunday.
