Nigeria Boboye Rubbishes Report Linking Him To Enyimba FC

Kennedy Boboye has disputed as untrue the online reports that claim he is affiliated with Enyimba International of Aba.

Despite the club finishing 7th in the log with 52 points, missing out on the race for a title or a CAF slot, Finidi George, who is still the head coach, has not received any word from the Aba Elephants management regarding his future.

According to the CHAN Eagles’ assistant coach:

The news linking me to Enyimba lacked any iota of truth as I was only in Aba to catch a glimpse of a game and I never had any discussion with anyone or official of the club.”

After his team struggled throughout the previous campaign, Boboye resigned as Akwa United’s head coach. His final match was the Promise Keepers’ 0-0 home draw with Heartland, in which they missed two penalty kicks.

The Nigerian great had an ordinary stat with Akwa United after winning the NPFL championship two seasons prior.

When in command of the Promise Keepers, he had a 44% winning percentage from 31 victories, 36 ties, and 13 defeats in 70 games (NPFL: 67, CAFCL: 2, Aiteo Cup: 1).

Recall that Jolomi Atune, the interim coach who replaced Boboye following his dismissal, lost three straight games—3-0 to Plateau United, 3-0 to Akwa United, 3-0 to Rangers at home, and a disgraceful 4-0 loss to Rivers United.

Akwa United had no choice but to hire Sunshine head coach Ayodeji Ayeni, who led them to a 9th-place finish with 52 points.
