Liverpool defeated Tottenham 2-1 in their Premier League match on Sunday thanks to a pair of goals from Mohamed Salah.

Manager Jurgen Klopp will be pleased with this victory against Spurs, who are establishing themselves as competitors for a spot in the top four after Liverpool lost their previous two league games to struggling Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

After Darwin Nunez’s pass was intercepted after 11 minutes, Salah scored with a sharp left-foot finish to give Liverpool the lead.

Five minutes later, Salah took advantage of Eric Dier’s misdirected headed backpass to extend Liverpool’s lead.

Without Son Heung-min, Spurs were never out of the game as Ivan Perisic hit the post twice before halftime and Harry Kane scored with 20 minutes still to play.

However, they were unable to make one of their characteristic comebacks from this season.

Mohamed Salah has now scored as many Premier League goals as Nicolas Anelka (125).
