Friendly Costa Rica Edges Past Super Eagles In Friendly Match

World Cup 2022 bound, Costa Rica Cin Qatar in the wee hours of Thursday, upset the Super Eagles of Nigeria 2-0 in a friendly match.

The Super Eagles and Costa Rica will be facing off in a senior-level matchup for the first time ever.

Kendall Waston and Oscar Duarte each scored a goal in either half to give Costa Rica the victory.

Joel Campbell, a former attacker for Arsenal, assisted both goals.

For the friendly match played inside the Estadio Nacional de in San Jose, the Super Eagles, led by Salisu Yusuf, only fielded players from their own country.

Duarte’s goal in the seventh minute gave Costa Rica the lead, giving them a solid start.

And Waston increased their advantage in the 73rd minute to help his team get back to winning ways following their previous match, which was also a friendly against South Korea in September and ended 2-2.

While the Super Eagles have now lost three games in a row.

The Super Eagles’ next match will be a friendly against Portugal, who will also compete in this year’s World Cup.

The contest is scheduled for Thursday, November 17, at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
