Cameroon forward Vincent Aboubakar revealed what Cristiano Ronaldo told him before he left Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in the winter transfer window.

The Portuguese superstar joined the Asian side in December last year as a free agent on a €200m annual salaray after terminating his contract with Manchester United.

His arrival was warmly welcomed in Saudi Arabia as he brings more light to the Saudi League.

However, a Al-Nassr officials had to solve a problem.

Speaking on his discussion with Ronaldo before leaving Al-Nassr, Aboubakar said the former Real Madrid goal-getter wanted him to stay.

“With the arrival of Cristiano, I made it clear to the coach before his arrival that I already wanted to leave. When Ronaldo arrived, a foreign player had to be released,” the 30-year said on the French television channel Canal+.

“Ronaldo asked me to stay and the club wanted me to stay at least until the end of the season, but I wanted to leave. The club wanted me to stay and were ready to pay my salary until the end of the season.”
