AFCON-20 AFCON U20: Flying Eagles Wins Group Stage Fair Play

Nigeria, the defending TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON winners, won the Group Stage Fair Play at the 2023 TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON in Egypt.

The 23rd edition of the biennial tournament’s Technical Study Group chose the Flying Eagles as the team that best exemplified professionalism, dedication, passion, and discipline throughout the group stage.

The youthful Flying Eagles were seen praising their opponents and displaying excellent sportsmanship despite the fact that they lost their debut match versus Senegal Group A.

At the Cairo International Stadium, Ladan Bosso’s team suffered a close 1-0 defeat to Senegal to begin the season.

With to Solomon Agbalaka’s soaring header in the second game against the hosts Egypt, they came back to win.

The WAFU-B champions defeated Mozambique resoundingly 2-0 in Ismailia to win Group A of the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, earning a meeting with Uganda in the quarterfinals.
