AFCON U17 AFCON U17: Senegal Thrash Somalia 3-0 To Qualify With Perfect Record

Senegal defeated Somalia 3-0 in their final Pool A encounter on Friday night in Constantine to finish the group round of the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations with a perfect record.

With the win, Senegal finished the first round of the tournament without a loss and without giving up a goal, while debutants Somalia were eliminated from the competition with a single point.

The Teranga Cubs’ goals came from Omar Sall, Amara Diouf, and Yaya Dieme, and there should have been more had they taken advantage of the several scoring opportunities that presented itself.

After only seven minutes, they scored when Somali goalkeeper Abdikadir Mohamed misjudged Sall’s header from a corner and let the ball escape his grasp.

Prior to the goal, Abdou Salam Konate’s header flew just wide, and Sall’s goal was disallowed for offside. Senegal had gotten off to a blazing start.

Sall had two more opportunities as Senegal continued to dominate the game. First, he was set up by Mamadou Lamine Sadio but his shot missed the mark, and second, he shot just wide of the mark following a struggle with a defender.
