Kenyan Premier League Tusker going for a treble just like Manchester City – Matano

Tusker coach Robert Matano has sent a clear warning that his side is in the hunt for a treble this campaign just like Manchester City in England.

Having won the season’s curtain raiser, Tusker are currently in the hunt for the FKF Premier League title and the Mozzart Bet FKF Cup.

With four top-flight matches remaining to conclude the season, the Brewers are currently sitting top of the 18-team log with 64 points from 34 matches, one more than second-placed rivals, and Gor Mahia, who have played the same number of matches.

Meanwhile, Tusker are also in the race to win the domestic cup as they are in the semi-finals and will face Ulinzi Stars at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Matano has likened his Tusker to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who are in the hunt to win the Premier League title and the Champions League this campaign.

“If Pep Guardiola is going for the treble with Manchester City, why not me with Tusker?” posed Matano as quoted by Nation Sports.

“I will not leave any title for anybody because that is not anywhere in football. I’m determined to win the league and Mozzart Bet Cup. Even if some coaches who are my enemies have combined forces against me and are now supporting one another I wouldn’t be cowed.

“My focus is on my work and winning my matches.”

After facing Ulinzi, Tusker will resume their league title hunt with a match against Gor Mahia.
