Africa Soccer AFCONU23: Black Meteors Of Ghana Arrives Rabat Ahead Opening Game

The delegation from Ghana has arrived in Rabat, Morocco, where they will be based throughout their Group stage games at the 2023 TotalEnergies U23 African Cup of Nations.

Players, technical staff, and officials traveled to Cairo on a pre-tournament training tour before arriving in Rabat on Wednesday evening.

In addition to two friendly games, the team participated in numerous intense training sessions in Cairo and Alexandria.

The Black Meteors drew 1-1 with Egypt U23 in a friendly match played at the Alexandria Stadium on June 15 before a 4-1 win over Egyptian club side Zamalek SC in a second friendly match played in Cairo.

On Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, a day following the competition’s opening encounter, the Black Meteors of Group A will play Congo.

On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Ghana will play the hosts of the competition, Morocco, at the same location in the second Group match before the final round of Group matches against Guinea at the Grand Stade de Tanger.

The two top teams from Groups A and B will move on to the competition’s semifinal round.

The tournament winner, along with the two runners-up, will earn a spot in the men’s soccer competition at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
