The TotalEnergies CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2023, officially takes off on Saturday, June 24, beginning the teams’ quest to become continental champions and qualify for the Paris Olympics the following year.

Eight different countries have arrived in the Kingdom of Morocco and are eager to compete in this year’s continental competition for athletes under the age of 23.

Between June 24 and July 8, the quadrennial competition will take place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat (Group A) and the Grande Stade de Tangier in Tangier (Group B).

The winners, along with the silver and bronze medalists, will qualify for the Summer Olympics in Paris 2024.

The competition officially begins on Saturday against debutants Guinea at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex with a 21:00 local time kickoff in Group A.

Morocco, which is hosting the game for the second time after coming in second place in the 2011 edition, serves as the tournament’s official host nation.

The next day at 16:00, Ghana and Congo will square off in a Group A match.

Ghana, who finished fourth in the 2019 competition after losing to South Africa on penalties, finished behind both teams from West Africa.

In Group B, Egypt is the pool’s top team and the defending champion.

They will be seeking to make a statement against Niger, which is competing for the first time, when they play them.

This match’s opening kickoff time is 18:00.

Mali will try to advance past the group stages for the first time in the group B evening match at 21:00 after failing to advance in the previous two competitions.

They have a difficult task ahead of them because Gabon, the tournament’s first winners, will be trying to match the performance of the generation that competed all the way to victory in 2011.
