PSG star Kylian Mbappe says he is a serious contender for Ballon d’or 2023 despite all Erling Haaland has achieved during the 2022/23 season.
Mbappe scored 54 goals for club and country throughout last season.
That is two less comparing to Erling Haaland who bagged 56 for Manchester City and Norway.
Many considers the former Dortmund star as the ultimate favourite to win Ballon d’or 2023, but Mbappe believes he can claim the award as well.

“The Ballon d’Or with the old rules, I would have told you no”, Mbappe told France Football when quizzed over a potential Ballon d’or win this year.
“But, with the news, it is the performance of the player that takes precedence. You are asked to elect the most impressive player, who has had the most impact, who has been the most decisive, who has burned the retina the most.
“I have two, three things in my luggage. We’ll see, but I think I’m still a candidate, that’s the truth.”
As a reminder, the 2023 Ballon d’or ceremony will take place on October 30 in Paris with the 30-man shortlist available on September 6.
