Kenya FKF Shield Cup: Gor Mahia crowned after defeating Homeboyz

Gor Mahia launched their 2023-24 campaign in style, clinching the FKF Charity Shield title after a 4-2 penalty shootout win against Kakamega Homeboyz at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.

The game had concluded 1-1 at the end of regular play. The first half saw no goals, with both teams tactically assessing their opponents. However, in the second half, Gor Mahia’s Boniface Omondi broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute, firing his team into the lead.

Homeboyz’s Eric Ambunya leveled the score just eight minutes later. The 1-1 tie persisted until the final whistle, leading to the penalty shootout. Gor Mahia’s Lyson Muyonga delivered the decisive penalty that secured their first silverware of the season.
