Delta Queens are through to the final in the WAFU B qualifiers for the 2023-24 Women’s CAF Champions League, after defeating Athletico FC 3-2.

Delta Queens had come back from a goal down to defeat Athletico FC in the semi-final match at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City, keeping two clean sheets in their previous games against USFA 3-0 and Sam Nelly 2-0.

Melissa Behinan had already stunned the crowd in the fifth minute to give Athletico the lead, but Mercy Omokwo had equalised by the 68th minute before scoring again in the 98th to give Delta its first lead of the game.

Taiwo Afolabi’s extra-time attempt in the 106th minute extended the home team’s lead to 3-1, yet a late goal by Joy Sunday for the visitors in the 114th minute wasn’t enough consolation as the defending Nigeria Women’s Football League champions flew to the final round of the qualifiers.
