UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE UEL: Liverpool Put VAR Error Behind To Beat Union Saint Gilloise

Liverpool put the error of the Video Assistant Referee VAR that lead to their 2-1 loss against Tottenham in the Premier League last week to defeat Union Saint Gilloise 2-0 in the UEFA Europa on Thursday night at Anfield.

The Reds defeated the Belgian team at home thanks to goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota, taking complete control of Group E in the Europa League.

A minute before halftime, Gravenberch simply tapped in a rebound from close range after Union custodian Anthony Moris had made an earlier save to give the home team a deserving lead.

Two minutes into the extra period, Jota calmly slid the ball past Moris from within the area after taking advantage of a counterattack.

Darwin Nunez believed he had handed Liverpool an early advantage when he calmly and quickly put the ball into the goal after it rebounded, but the linesman had raised the flag for offside.
