Tanzania Stubborn Ihefu ends Yanga SC’s unbeaten run in the top-flight

Ihefu FC ended defending Tanzania Premier League champions Young Africans’ (Yanga SC’s) unbeaten run after beating the latter 2-1 at Highland Estates Stadium in Mbarali, Mbeya on Wednesday.

Pacome Zouzoua put Yanga upfront in the third minute which was later cancelled out by Lenny Kissu five minutes before the half-time break. In the 66th minute, Charles Ilanfya finished the business with a blistering strike that was too hot for Yanga goalie Djigui Diarra making them emerge 2-1 victors.

It is the first defeat for the reigning champions who have since managed to grab nine points in four games. For Ihefu, it is their second win of the season, and have since claimed six points in four games.

Last season, Yanga suffered with the same goal margin at the same venue, and it seemed like a thorny pitch for them. On Thursday, Prisons will be at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya to welcome another giant Simba SC.
