Serie A Salernitana Appoints Filipo Inzaghi As New Manager

The Serie A team Salernitana announced on Tuesday that Filippo Inzaghi has been named as the new manager to take over for Paulo Sousa.

Sousa was fired on Tuesday after a dismal start to the year left them winless and in last place in the standings.

As the club works to avoid relegation, former Italian international Inzaghi will now assume leadership.

Salernitana announces that it has reached an agreement with Mr. Filippo Inzaghi and to entrust him shortly with the technical guidance of the first team.” the club said.

In 2014, Inzaghi started working as a manager at AC Milan, the team where he concluded his playing career. He managed Reggina in Serie B last season. He has achieved promotion to Serie A with Benevento and to Serie B with Venezia.

Following the international break, Salernitana will play fellow underachievers Cagliari, who are now last in Serie A and are only one point behind Inzaghi’s team.
