Nigerian Players abroad Tella Fires Warning To Lesotho, Zimbabwe In First Goal For Leverkusen

Nathan Tella, a newly invited Super Eagles midfielder, scored his first goal in the Bundesliga on Sunday to give Zimbabwe and Lesotho a heads-up.

The new face of the Super Eagles squad invited to this week’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier is Tella, who just joined German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

With a 4-0 victory over Union Berlin on Sunday, Leverkusen secured their 16th victory of the campaign, with the Nigerian player scoring the game’s fourth goal.

After being introduced into the match in the 81st minute, Tella was able to get his name recorded on the scorer’s sheet two minutes later.

” I’m just happy right now, my first Bundesliga goal and then the win.

We have a lot of chances today, it could have been even higher“, he said.

This week, the deft midfielder who helped Burnley return to the Premier League is probably going to make his Nigerian debut.

The Super Eagles camp is expected to open on Monday with eight players expected to arrive same day.
