AFCON AFCON 2023: Hughton Releases Ghana 55-Man Provisional Squad

A 55-man provisional roster for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition has been made public by Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton.

As reported to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) by head coach Chris Hughton and the technical team, the roster include a number of players who are currently performing well.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Bernard Tekpetey, Richmond Lamptey, Majeed Ashimeru, Yaw Yeboah, Edmund Addo, and Forson Amankwah are notable members of the team.

The team also includes Mohammed Salisu, who just made a full recovery from a long-term ailment, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Mohammed Kudus, Alexander Djiku, Baba Rahman, Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Daniel Amartey, and captain Andre Ayew.

The final tournament team will consist of 27 players, who will be selected from the tentative group.

Although their tournament camping base has not yet been established, the Black Stars are anticipated to set up camp at least three weeks prior to their opening game.

To conclude the group stage, Ghana will play Cape Verde on January 14 and then Egypt and Mozambique.

The Black Stars, who haven’t won the AFCON since 1982, are keen to put an end to their protracted quest for the championship.
