AFCON CAMEROON 2021 AFCON 2023: Peseiro Under Pressure To Release Final Squad List

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro is under pressure to release the final squad ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.

Peseiro released his 42-man provisional squad with only three goalkeepers from included from the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL which has caused criticism.

With the deadline day for the final squad scheduled for January 3, the Portuguese I’d yet to know the players that will be selected.

The likes of Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, Troost Ekong and Kelechi Nwakali were listed in the official provisional squad.

According to a statement by CAF, a player in the final squad can only be replaced after a serious injury no less than 24-hours before the team’s first match.

The Super Eagles are in Group A alongside hosts, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

Their first group game will be against Equatorial Guinea on January 14 before they take on the Elephant of Ivory Coast in the second group game on January 18.

Guinea-Bissau is their last opponent with the game scheduled for January 22.

Nigeria will be hoping to win the AFCON title for the fourth time having won it three times.
