CAF Champions League Simba SC stun Wydad with Onana’s first-half goals

A first-half brace by Willy Onana enabled Tanzania faints Simba SC to register a 2-0 triumph over visitors Wydad Casablanca in a CAF Champions League fixture at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Tuesday.

The Cameroonian striker scored probably the fastest two goals in the contest after finding the net in the 36th and 38th minute respectively. It is the first win for Simba in the group stage of the competition this season and has seen them amass five points from three matches.

A draw or a defeat could have limited Simba’s hopes of making it beyond the group stage of the competition. The Reds recorded six shots on target against five shots fired by the visitors who now claim the bottom place in the group.

On Wednesday, Simba rivals and Tanzania league champions Young Africans (Yanga SC) will host Ghana’s Madeama SC in another decisive Champions League match at the same venue. It is a must-win clash for Miguel Gamondi’s charges to revive their chances of marching to the knockout phase.
