Bundesliga WATCH: Harry Kane strikes again for Bayern Munich in Wolfsburg

Harry Kane’s 21st Bundesliga goal in 15 matches helped Bayern Munich win 2-1 at Wolfsburg in their final fixture of 2023 on Wednesday.

Mattias Svanberg tested Manuel Neuer early, but it was one-way traffic from Bayern thereafter. Thomas Muller headed over from a set piece, Leroy Sane sent a free-kick at Koen Casteels and Raphael Guerreiro fired wide, before the defending champions converted their dominance into goals.

Muller cut in off the right and crossed for Jamal Musiala to head in the first from close range. Mr. Bayern – fresh from penning a new deal with his boyhood club – then set up Kane for a fabulous 20-yard finish for 2-0. Wolfsburg had been comfortably second best but gave themselves a fighting chance on the stroke of half-time when Maximilian Arnold fired a rising drive past Neuer.

Wolfsburg were much improved after the restart, largely keeping Kane and Co. in check whilst periodically threatening as an attacking force. Substitute Rogerio pinged a teasing ball into the Bayern box on one such occasion, but Alphonso Davies was able to pick off the threat.

Bayern’s advances were even more sporadic, with Moritz Jenz preventing Sane from doing more with a promising Muller pass and Sane too casual when collecting Dayot Upamecano’s raking ball into the danger zone. Aleksandar Pavlovic drove wide from 18 yards before Arnold stung the palms of Neuer as Bayern secured a win that keeps them four points behind leaders Bayern Leverkusen.
