AFCON AFCON 2023 : Egypt invite Mohanad Lasheen to replace injured Ahmed Nabil Koka

Pyramids FC midfielder Mohanad Lasheen will take part into 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Egypt as he has been invited by Rui Vitoria as Ahmed Koka replacement.

The 27-year old was left out of the final Pharaohs squad which should travel to Ivory Coast in the upcoming days for the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, he has been called up on Wednesday as Al Ahly’s Ahmed Nabil Koka replacement as the 22-year old picked up an injury.

“The technical staff of the first Egyptian national football team, led by the Portuguese Rui Vitoria, decided to summon Mohannad Lashin to the ranks of the national team to join the final list participating in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, organized by Ivory Coast. and begins on January 13, after the injury of Ahmed Nabil Kouka”, Egyptian FA’s statement reads.

Mohamed Salah and teammates are located in AFCON 2023’s Group B alongside Ghana, Mozambique and Cape Verde.

Before jetting off to Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt will take on Tanzania in a friendly game on January 7.
