African players abroad Boost for Arsenal as Ghana’s Thomas Partey returns to first team training

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has resumed training with Premier League side Arsenal after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a muscle injury sustained in October 2023.

The 30-year-old’s recovery opens the possibility of him featuring in Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Partey’s injury ruled him out for an extended period, causing him to miss Ghana’s campaign in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the Black Stars exited at the group stage without securing a single win.

A statement from Arsenal confirmed the return of the Black Star by saying: “Thomas Partey has returned to first-team training ahead of our trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday. Thomas had been working on recovering from an ongoing muscle issue that had seen him out of action since early October.”

The former Atletico Madrid star, who has only made five appearances for the Gunners this season, will be eager to secure a spot in the starting lineup and contribute to Arsenal’s campaign in the Premier League.
