Aruna Quadri, the star of Nigerian table tennis, lost hope of winning the gold medal at the 2023 African Games.

The Nigerian international advanced to the final after an incredible semifinal match on Tuesday afternoon, but Omar Assar, the star of Egypt, proved too strong for him.

Omar won the first set 11-8, but Aruna fought back to win the second and third sets 11-2, 11-2. Omar won the fourth set 11-7, and Aruna won the fifth set 11-9.

The Egyptian international won the final two sets 11-9, 11-0, and 4-3 in favour of himself.

This means that Omar has defeated Aruna three times in the African Games final.
