African players abroad Senegal’s Idrissa Gueye declared fit for Everton against Bournemouth

Idrissa Gana Gueye is fit and in contention for Everton’s trip to Bournemouth this weekend – but the clash is likely to come too soon for Arnaut Danjuma.

Gueye made his return to action earlier this week, playing 64 minutes of Senegal’s 1-0 home win over Benin on Tuesday, having missed the Blues’ past three games before the international break with a groin injury sustained during last month’s 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, manager Sean Dyche revealed the midfielder has now returned to Finch Farm and will take part in full training alongside the rest of the club’s international players on Friday.

“Idrissa played [for Senegal], there was a lot of travelling involved so he’s had a quieter day today [Thursday] but he’s fit.”

Danjuma, meanwhile, has been absent since the end of January after suffering ankle ligament damage during the Toffees’ goalless draw at Fulham.

“Arnie is only just back out on the grass with us,” revealed Dyche. “He’s been on the grass with the medical side and the sports science side getting fit and making sure he’s well but literally his first training session was with us – as a group – today. So, therefore, he’s going to need a bit of time to make sure he’s right.”
