Four days after Inter Milan’s Francesco Acerbi was cleared by a judge of racially abusing a Brazilian player during a Serie A match, Napoli players knelt in support of teammate Juan Jesus before kickoff.

After a scuffle in Napoli’s box, Aleksei Miranchuk scored from close range in the 26th minute to break the tie, and Gianluca Scamacca increased the lead just before halftime for Atalanta.

In the second half, Napoli struck the crossbar twice in a minute, and Teun Koopmeiners’ shot in the 88th minute found the bottom corner to give Atalanta the three points.

With 50 points, Atalanta is ranked sixth in the rankings, while Napoli is ranked seventh with 45.

The loss further dent Napoli’s hope of qualifying to the UEFA Champions League next season.
