With a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday, Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten streak in all competitions reached 45 games thanks to a goal from Josip Stanisic in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

Leverkusen, who were crowned Bundesliga champions for the first time last week, appeared certain to lose when Niclas Fuellkrug of Dortmund scored with nine minutes left.

But they struck late, as they have so frequently this season, with Stanisic’s goal coming from a corner deep into added time.

Leverkusen’s hopes of being the first team to go undefeated through a Bundesliga season were preserved by the goal, which was their 14th of the season to come after the 90th minute.

Dortmund now trails fourth-place RB Leipzig by two points in the battle for the final Champions League position, thanks to the draw.

Ian Maatsen and captain Emre Can, who received yellow cards, will be absent from Dortmund’s trip to Leipzig the following week due to suspension.
