CAF CONFEDERATION CUP CAF apologizes Over Alger Vs Berkane Unplayed Game

The Confederation of Africa Football CAF has released to a statement following the incident that led to the postponement of the CAF Confederation Cup game between USM Alger and RS Berkane.

RS Berkane refused to enter the pitch in the first leg of the Confederation Cup in Algiers as they protected the seizure of their jersey which was confisticated following political tension between Algeria and Morocco.

According to report , the Algiers side had taken to the pitch awaiting their Moroccan opponent who failed to show up.

However, CAF in a statement on Sunday apologized for any inconveniences they cancelation may have caused their sponsors, TV partner and fans.

The statement said;

“The TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup first leg semi-final fixture today, 21 April 2024, between USM Alger and RS Berkane in Algiers, Algeria did not take place as scheduled.

“The matter will be referred to the competent bodies.

“CAF apologizes for any inconvenience caused to our sponsors, TV partners and the supporters.”
