Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane has been withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad that will take part in the 2014 CAF African Nations Championship due to a knee injury.

Letsholonyane, who was part of the 23-man squad that was announced by coach Gordon Igesund on Monday, 23 December, went for a scan yesterday (Monday, 23 December) and the results revealed that he will be out for 4-6 weeks – ruling him out of the tournament.

His place will be taken by Asavela Mbekile of Moroka Swallows.

Bafana Bafana’s training camp is expected to start early in the new year – Thursday, 02 January 2014 – in Cape Town.

South Africa is in the same group as Mozambique, Mali and Nigeria.

CHAN is scheduled to take place between 11 January and 1 February in Cape Town, Polokwane and Mangaung (Bloemfontein).
