With registration full to capacity, it was Samm Denena who successfully defended her title as Slopestyle champ in the World Snowboarding Tour 3Star event.
Billabong Flaunt it’s All Girls Slopestyle and Rail Jam kicked off the first stop of the series 7th season at Blue Mountain, on this past weekend. Denena dominated the contest all day, winning the first place $700 cheque and a trip to the series Finals in Tahoe.
Additionally she took home $250 for first place in the rail jam, and $100 for the Dakine Best Trick by executing a perfect backside rodeo.
In honour of Flaunt its 7th year Billabong is giving away $700 to the first competitor to land a clean 720 during the Slopestyle competition. Three competitors: Samm Denena, Audrey Mcmaniman and Victoria Marshall were pushing the bar in female snowboarding each attempting their very first 720’s. No one managed to land the perfect 720 although a few attempts came very close.
Denena’s winning Slopestyle run consisted of a frontside 180 on-backside 180 off the box into a backside 360 mute on the first jump, then stomping a backside rodeo on the second jump, and finishing off with a nose press all the way through the down-flat-down rail. Mcmaniman, from Quebec City came in second; rounding out the podium was Molly Milligan, who trekked all the way from the west coast for Flaunt It.
