Nigerian Players abroad We Need To Do More- Iheanacho Urges Teammates After Loss To Everton

Kelechi Iheanacho says he and his Leicester City teammates need to do more and get back to winning following a disappointing result against Everton.

Leicester City travelled to Goodison Park in search of first Premier League post-COVID-19 win against Everton.

Rather they returned home depleted following a 2-1 loss to Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Two first half goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdson put the Toffees in command before Iheanacho came in and scored to reduce the deficit.

The defeat was Leicester’s second loss in space of three days after losing 1-0 to Chelsea and crashed out of the FA Cup.

Iheanacho came in for Harvey Barnes in the 46th minute and scored just five minutes after his introduction.

Despite the goal, it was Alex Iwobi who claimed bragging right against Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi as the Nigerians were involved in action for their respective clubs.

Iheanacho expressed his displeasure as the result disn’t go their way in spite their performance.

Iheanacho post-match interview after the game against Everton

The former Manchester City forward spoke in an interview woth LCFC TV after the game stressing they need to go extra miles to start getting results.

He said, “It’s absolutely a tough one [to take], ” 

“We need to do more. It’s not good enough from us.

“We just need to get back and work on training. 

“We got a goal back and we got a couple of chances, but unfortunately, we lost.

“We need to do more and get back to winning ways. 

“In the next game, we need to fight and get the three points.

“We did a bit more in the second half, but we need to do more if we [want] to compete. 

“We have six games left, so we need to compete.

“We need to get our mentality right, to fight until the end.”

Asked how he felt adding to his Leicester City goal tally, the 23-year old says he’s happy to help his team.

“Yes, it’s always good to get on the pitch to play and to help my team-mates out,” he continued. 

“Everyone is important in the team, whenever you’re playing, so you need to give your best and for the team. 

“It’s a collective effort, so you need to do your best whenever you play. [There’s] a lot of games to play.

“Every week, [we’re] playing two games, so we need to just get ready. In three days, we’ll play Crystal Palace, so we need to get ready to play again.”

They remain in the third position, one point above Chelsea who also lose to West Ham.

The Foxes will host Palace on Saturday before a trip to Emirates Stadium to tackle Arsenal next week Tuesday.

Then another away game at AFC Bournemouth.
