South Africa Official : Premier Soccer League to resume on August 8

Kaizer-Chiefs

Premier Soccer League resumption date has been confirmed on Monday by Chairman Irvin Khoza to August 8 in order to fully complete 2019/20 season.

It’s no more August 1 as scheduled. PSL will resume a week later. That is on August 8.

“Today we agreed unanimously as the board of governors that we must resume on August 8. I phoned the president of SAFA (Danny Jordaan) to inform him that we are resuming on the 8th of August.” Irvin Khoza said during a press conference as reported by Soccer Laduma.

“I also tried to get hold of the Sports Minister, but was unable to get hold of him because Mondays are busy. We have resolved that the first games will be the two semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup and the final will be the last game of the season.” PSL chairman added.

As a reminder, Kaizer Chiefs (22 games played) were leading the table before suspension in mid-March due to Covid-19 pandemic. Mamelodi Sundowns with 21 games ranked 2nd. Whereas SuperSport United with 24 games, complete the top 3.

However, Polokwane City, Amazulu FC and Black Leopards, respectively 14th, 15th and 16th, will have to strive at the restart.
