It was a busy Thursday night for Nigerian players featuring for their various clubs in this season’s Europa League.

Samuel Chukwueze was on the assist sheet as Villarreal got a second win after a 3-1 win at Qarabag.

Chukwueze gave Paco Alcacer the pass to complete the comeback for the Yellow Submarines.

Owusu Kwabena put Qarabag in front in the 78th minute before Yeremi Pino equalized for Villarreal.

The Super Eagles winger was later replaced with four minutes left in the game as Alcacer later scored from the spot to make it 3-1.

Kelechi Iheanacho came in as substitute for Leicester City who claimed their second win of the season.

Iheanacho who starred in the Foxes opening win was benched following the return of Jamie Vardy.

He joined the fray in the 70th minute coming in for Vardy as Leicester defeated AEK Athens 2-1 away.

Two goals in the first half by Vardy in the 18th minute and Hamza Choudhury in the 39th minute put the visitors in clear position.

Muamer Tankovic scored Anhens’ consolatory goal in the 49th minute.

It was Iheanacho’s second appearance in the Europa League this campaign.

Leon Balogun saw 90 minutes of action as Rangers FC claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Lech Poznan at the Ibrox Stadium.

His compatriot Joe Aribo came on for Ianis Hagi in the 69th minute a Rangers remain unbeaten in all competition this season.

Kevin Akpoguma was also in action for 90 minutes as he helped Hoffenheim beat Gent 4-1 away in Group L.

Hoffenheim now top the group with six points from two games.

Group K, Chidera Ejuke featured for CSKA in their 0-0 home draw against Dinamo Zagreb.

Ejuke who started the game was later replaced with 15 minutes left in the game.

The Super Eagles player and his club are yet to win any of their Europa League games having draw twice.

Victor Osimhen was sent off for the first time in his professional football career as Napoli claimed their first win.

Osimhen replaced Andrea Petagna in the 61 minutes and was show a yellow card in the 81st minute.

He was sent off in the 90th minute after he elbowed Real Sociedad player.

Olanrewaju Kayode got on the score sheet but could not prevent Sivasspor from losing 2-1 to visiting Maccabi Tel Aviv, in Group I.

Kayode broke the deadlock for Sivasspor in the 55th minute before Dan Biton (pen. 69th minute) and Dor Peretz (74th minute) scored for Maccabi Tel Aviv who ran away with the three points.
