Nigerian Players abroad Osimhen Sees Red As Napoli Claims First Europa League Win

Victor Osimhen was sent off as Napoli got their first Europa League victory following a 1-0 away win against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
Napoli lost 1-0 at home to AZ Alkmaar in the opening game but finally right their wrong after a hard fight that secured them the win.
Osimhen was left out of the starting eleven by Gennaro Gattuso who preferred Andrea Petagna in front.
However, after both teams failed to score as Gattuso substituted Petagna out for Osimhen after Matteo Polatino had scored for the Nerazzurri in the 56th minute.

Osimhen was first booked for a foul he comitted in the 81 minutes.
In the 90th minute, he was sent off after he received a second yellow card after he elbowed Robin Le Normand.
It was the first time Osimhen would be sent off in his professional career.
But his dismissal didn’t affect the scoreline as Napoli got their first win.
Reacting to the the final outcome of the game, Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso expressed satisfaction over the result.

“It was not an easy success and we deserved it .” Gennaro Gattuso shows his satisfaction, combined with pride, for the victory in Basque land.

“Tonight (Thursday)we were playing for 50% of the chances of qualifying in the group. 

“I liked the team so much on a tactical level, we faced a team that is very strong especially on their field and we managed to keep great intensity”.

“We probably could have done better in terms of quality, but in general I am proud of my guys and of this group because it always shows me attachment and character”

“Despite the many changes, we played a very fast game, always with attention and balance. 

“This means that I have an important base to work on. 

“These guys always give me maximum availability and it shows on the pitch.”

“I feel this squad is mine and I consider it to be of a high level.

” I don’t know where we can get, I just know that by continuing like this we have great margins to be able to grasp our goals and then, perhaps, look even further ahead.”
