Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has revealed that he still trained with his former club Al Nassr despite parting away with the club.

Musa on Monday arrived Nigeria ahead of the AFCON 2021 double-header against Sierra Leone.

Nigeria will host the Leone Stars on Friday 13 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Matchday 3 of the 2021 AFCON qualifier.

Musa who is already in Nigeria but yet to arrive camp spoke with journalists on Monday when he visited the Flying Eagles team in Abuja.

The Super Eagles said he has been training and is ready to give his best performance against the Leone Stars.

The former Al Nassr player who is currently clubless also talked about his next move after the club Saudi Arabian side refused to extend his contract.

“Though I have parted ways with my club in Saudi Arabia [Al Nassr] , I trained with them until I came down for this game. 

“I am still myself and I will give my best on Friday”

“I will soon reveal my new club as soon as all the necessary details are completed.

“I hope to return to Europe as soon as possible.”

Commenting ahead of the game against Sierra Leone, Musa said:

“Two victories over them will give us the ticket to AFCON, so we won’t joke with the games.

“It is true we don’t know much of the Sierra Leone national team, but we have resolved to play our best game to beat them at our home and away.”

The former Leicester City forward also expressed disappointment that fans will not be able to watch them play but assured that they will win the game for the fans.

“Playing without our ever supportive fans at the newly refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia stadium will not affect our games both in Benin City and Freetown. 

“It’s quite a pity that Edo fans will miss the opportunity of seeing us play live because of the pandemic but we shall try to win for them,” he stated.
