Frank Lampard has hailed Edouard Mendy for his superb performance against his former club Rennes in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League.
Mendy produced a superb performance as Chelsea booked their place in this season Champions League following a 2-1 win at the Roazhon Park.
It was the first time Mendy returned to the Roazhon Park and held his head high against his former club.
Lampard in his post-match conference hailed Mendy for his personality.
“I’m very happy for him. It’s not easy to play against your old team-mates in the stadium you played so well at.
“I know it can add pressure, but Edou looked very calm.
“He’s been like that from the first moment he arrived.
“His personality is great, and most importantly his performances have been high.
“He continued that today (Tuesday) and I’m really happy with him in all senses.”
Mendy couldn’t keep a fourth consecutive clean sheet after he had maintained three in their previous games.
Chelsea currently top Group E with ten points and still have Sevilla to play away and Krasnodars at Stamford Bridge in the group stage.
