CHAN CHAN MATCH REPORT : GUINEA THUMP NAMIBIA, GO TOP

Guinea national team

Guinea thumped Namibia 3-0 on Tuesday night to go top of Group D at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Cameroon.

Guinea lead the group on a superior goal aggregate to Zambia who had earlier defeated neighbours Tanzania 2-0 at the same Limbe Omnisports Stadium.

Knowing that goals would matter in this group race, Guinea made their intentions clear as they scored through Yakhouba Barry after 13 minutes and Morlaye Sylla scored the insurance goal at half-time.

It got worse for Namibia as the lively Barry completed his double with four minutes to full time.

Such an emphatic win should send a strong warning to Zambia who face Guinea on Saturday whereas Tanzania take on fellow strugglers Namibia at the same venue.

That Guinea won was partly due to the inspiration their players received from Guinea Football Federation President Antonio Souare before the match.

Souaré visited Syli National players just before leaving the hotel for the Omnisports Stadium in Limbe.

He reminded the team on the importance of winning the first game.
