All is set for a three-day Simba Super Cup involving TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Al Hilal from Sudan and the hosts, Simba SC, in Tanzania.

Simba will kick start the show later today against Al Hilal at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in what is the hosts coach Didier Gomez’s first match in charge.

The mini-tournament, meant to help Simba prepare for the CAF Champions League assignments, is set to take place in Dar es Salaam from January 27 to 31 2021.

Simba are fine-tuning for Group A games against Al Ahly of Egypt, El Merrikh from Sudan and AS Vita from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the the Champions League.

Mazembe have since announced that they are ready to participate in the mini-tournament, saying it afford them an opportunity to fine tune for forthcoming assignments.

In recent days, the technical staff has requested regional clubs in order to organize several friendly matches, probably until February 7, a week before the first day of the CAF Champions League,” Mazembe reports on their website.

It made more sense to accept the Tanzanian proposal. Indeed, the Ravens, engaged in two competitions, must string together long and intense efforts.” 

Meanwhile, Al Hilal arrived in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday ahead of the tournament.
