Baba Rahman

Ghana defender Baba Rahman has spoken about his loan move to Greece Super League team PAOK.

Rahman has joined the Greece side on loan from Chelsea where he has failed to earn a permanent place.

Now the left-back told PAOK website that he was excited to join the club.

I feel great, I’m very happy to be here at PAOK. All of the players, my new teammates, have welcomed me in the best possible way. This is a new start for me and I’m happy to be part of this club,” he said.

PAOK are one of the biggest clubs in Greece. As soon as they came forward with their proposal, I said yes immediately because I wanted to live this experience. There were no second thoughts. I’m enthusiastic and it was an easily decision for me to make and I’m looking forward to this next experience in my career.”

Rahman said he was impressed with the level of performance of the team.

The team is in good shape. I saw the second leg match in the Greek Cup and the 5-0 win over Panetolikos at the Toumba. We work very hard in training to try and improve and with have to keep the winning spirit that we have in the last few games,” Rahman said.

Having former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa as a team-mate is also a plus for the Greek team, he said.

He is a top player, world class. We all know this, we know about his career and the teams he has played for. When I came, I learned that he is a part of the squad and it’s amazing.

He is a very experienced player who can help any team and I’m enthusiastic that I will play alongside him,” Rahman said.

PAOK drew 2-2 with Apollon on Sunday in a match which Rahman did not feature in whereas Kajawa was introduced in the second half.

Rahman signed for Chelsea in a £23 million ($31m) move from Augsburg in 2015 in Denmark but has not settled at Stamford Bridge where his career has been spent on loan spells.
