Africa Soccer DSTV PREMIERSHIP : Gavin hunts for Chiefs consistency

Kaizer Chiefs

Coach Gavin Hunt wants Kaizer Chiefs to build on their morale-boosting 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns.

Hunt spoke about the need for sustaining the winning momentum as his charges face unpredictable Chippa United today, Wednesday.

Hunt told Chiefs website that he would like the team to be picking up maximum points regularly.

The most important thing was to get three points after we lost to Cape Town City,” he said.

“If we had beaten City and lost to Sundowns, people would have said ‘oh okay’, but obviously we were disappointed about Cape Town City and then we went and won against Sundowns.”

Hunt said he is expecting an equally tough game against the Port Elizabeth based side.

“Games against a team such as Chippa are difficult. We need to get ourselves mentally ready as they will be very motivated because they are fighting for their lives. We have not been good at home for whatever reason, so it’s important for us to come out with the right mindset and do our best,” he is quoted saying.

Chippa have impressive players such as Cameroonian Eva Nga and  Liberian Anthony Laffour.

On the other hand, Chiefs have experienced campaigners such as goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, striker Samir Nurkovic and winger Khama Billiat.

The win over Sundowns helped Chiefs to step closer to their top-eight dream.

Chiefs are on position eight with 28 points from 23 matches whereas Chippa lie second from bottom with 18 points.
