Africa Soccer CAF CL : Al Ahly striker warns Sundowns tie not over

Al Ahly v Sundowns

Al Ahly striker Mohamed Sherif has warned his team-mates against underestimating Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League quarter-final second leg match scheduled for Saturday.

He said this as Al Ahly delegation arrived in South Africa on Tuesday ahead of the return match in Johannesburg.

The Caf Champions League defending champions go into the second leg carrying a 2-0 lead having won the first leg played in Cairo over the weekend.

However, Sherif has called for caution saying the tie is far from over.

We have an important difficult match against Sundowns, which will be looking forward to achieving a positive result to qualify to the semi-finals of the competition.”

“Of course defeating Sundowns in the first leg is an important step, but we still didn’t qualify yet. We still have another game in Pretoria, where we will be aiming to qualify to the semi-finals,” Sherif told Al Ahly website.

Al Ahly will have their first training session in Pretoria on Tuesday to prepare for Saturday’s encounter.

Club president Mahmoud El Khatib has accompanied the delegation which also comprise Egypt’s ambassador to South Africa.

Ambassador El Fadly made sure that all arrangements for the delegation are set, as he traveled with the team from Cairo to Johannesburg, before going with them to the team’s residency in Pretoria in the early hours of Tuesday,” the website adds.
