Al Ahly legend Wael Gomaa hailed Red Devils coach Pitso Mosimane after their 2-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in CAF Champions league quarter-final-first leg.

The Egyptian Premier League giants defeated Brazilians in Cairo last week and Gomaa credited their second half performance to the work of Mosimane on the sidelines.

Despite the fact Al Ahly’s game production is criticized from all sides, Wael Gomaa said Pitso Mosimane has done it smartly against Downs.

“The performance in the second half was less than the first, I would justify for Mosimane that he dealt smartly with the game”, Gomaa told beIN Sports.

“Al Ahly almost conceded, but Mohamed El-Shennawy appeared at his true level alongside Aliou Dieng, who bore the burden of midfield alone. He is the reason for Al Ahly’s victory.

“As I said Mosimane dealt smartly with the game, but he must be careful and not sit back and wait for the counter-attacks in Pretoria.”

The second leg of this tie will be played on Saturday, May 22 at 3:00pm.
