FIFA World Cup Hugo Boos First Bafana Bafana Game With Aim To Land For Qatar 2022

Hugo Broos missed Bafana Bafana’s first games since the Belgian has become the new coach due to Covid-19 related protocols.

Broos was receiving a vaccine in Belgium when South Africa secured a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Uganda. And he missed their COSAFA Cup triumph too. Bafana Bafana’s head coach is 69 years old. Therefore, he did not want to risk contracting the virus.

He is now vaccinated and in Zimbabwe with boys, ready to step up and lead from the sidelines for the first time. The new coach wants to guide Bafana Bafana to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The vision is clear, rejuvenate the side with youthful exuberance and build the future around talented, enthusiastic and positive players.

Broos wants to build a new style of play in the national side. Ridding so-called ‘big-names’ that are there because of their name and not their form. He is focused on those that are in form now and building with these players.

Players such as Evidence Makgoba, Percy Tau, Sibusiso Mabiliso and Teboho Mokoena are key to his plans.

Broos is expected to be on the sidelines on Friday afternoon for the very first time since taking over the helm at Bafana Bafana.
