Qatar 2022 Malawi v Mozambique: Team News: Confirmed Line-Ups

Malawi’s Flames coach Meck Mwase has made changes to his squad ahead of this afternoon’s World Cup qualifying match against Mozambique’s Mambas.

The changes reflect an-all out attacking approach in this Group D  match at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Mwase has selected goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa after dropping Ernest Kakhobwe to the bench whereas Tawonga Chimodzi and Yamikani Chester have made way for  Gabadinho Mhango and Khuda Muyaba.

The Flames are smarting from a 2-0 loss to Cameroon on the road whereas the Mambas drew 0-0 at home againt Ivory Coast.

Mozambique coach Horácio Gonçalves has also reshuffled his starting XI by dropping Ernani, Candinho and Melque from the squad that playd against Ivory Coast.

The coach has opted to start with John Feliciano, Novella Estavao and Victor Guambe.

For Malawi, revenge is the name of this Group D second-round qualifying match for the 2022 World Cup.

The Mambas spat at the Flames then doused them 2-0 on July 11 2021 during the Cosafa Cup which took place in Port Elizabeth.

Now, it is the turn of Mwase and his Flames to provide a response in this World Cup qualifier.

The game is taking place in South Africa because the Confederation of African Football declared Lilongwe-based Bingu National Stadium unfit to host such high profile matches.

Mozambique and Malawi are on third and fourth places in the group which Ivory Coast lead on four points followed by Cameroon’s three points.
