Zimbabwe Zifa parts ways with coach Zdravko Logarusic

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has parted ways with senior national team coach Zdravko Logarusic.

Zifa has fired the Croatian days after the Warriors suffered an away 1-0 loss to Ethiopia in the World Cup qualifiers for Africa.

Zimbabwe drew 0-0 against South Africa before traveling to Ethiopia.

The association’s Communications and Competitions Manager Xolisani Gwesela has confirmed the development through a statement.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) would like to inform the football fraternity and the nation at large that it has amicably parted ways with senior men’s team coach Zdravko Logarusic.

“The decision was arrived at upon consideration by the full Executive Committee of all the various relevant circumstances pertaining to the coach’s contract,” Gwesela said.

The entire technical team has also been disbanded.

The appointment of the interim technical team shall be announced in due course as the Executive Committee has already set in motion the process.”

Logarusic took over the Warriors midway through the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign and managed to see the team through to the finals scheduled for next year in Cameoon.

He is the second coaching casualty in Africa in the past weeks after Egypt sacked coach Hossam El Badry hours after a1-1 draw in Gabon in the World Cup qualifiers.
