UEFA Champions League Lille Lead Group G While Sevilla Stay In Hunt For Knockout Round

In-form Canada striker Jonathan David scored his 12th goal of the season as Lille beat Salzburg 1-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday to claim the top spot in their group.

In the other group game, Sevilla have kept alive their chance of advancing in the Champions League with a 2-0 home win over Wolfsburg at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Joan Jordán and Rafa Mir scored to give the Spanish club its first win in five matches in the tight Group G.

They moved from last to third place with six points. They are one behind second-place Salzburg and two behind leader Lille.

Wolfsburg stayed on five points. And they are still in contention ahead of the final round.

With Tuesday’s result, all four sides in Group G remain in contention for the knockout round. Sevilla travel to Salzburg for their final game on Dec. 8, while Wolfsburg host Lille at the same time.
