Nigeria Pinnick Finally Speaks On Gernot Rohr Sack

Admits NFF Owing Players, Coaches salary


President of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF Mr Amaju Pinnnick has finally reacted to what less to the sacking of Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr.

The NFF on Sunday sacked Rohr and appointed Austin Eguavoen as technical adviser to lead the super Eagles to the 2022 African Nations Cup in Cameroon.

Pinnick while setting the record straight in an interview with Channels TV, said the decisions to sack Rohr was not individualistic but a collective one by the committee.

It wasn’t an individual decision, it was a collective decision from the Committee.

“We were winning our games … there are a lot of things we took into cognisance.

“When you part ways, you don’t want to start ascribing blames; you just let it go and face the future with renewed hope and renewed zeal.”

“We didn’t want a disaster to happen before taking the decision.”

He also revealed that the NFF had lost control of the dressing room as there was no discipline in the team.

One major factor was that discipline in the team is lost practically.

“In the dressing room, discipline in the team was at its lowest edge and once you remove discipline, that foundation in the team has cracked.

“Players now talk back at you, players believe that they are indispensable.

“A lot of factors that will now militate against the team.”

“We are only owing about two matches of all the matches they played in both AFCON qualifiers and World Cup qualifiers.

Rohr was Super Eagles longest serving coach since following his appointment in 2016.

During his spell as coach, took charge of 54 games and recorded 28 wins, 13 draws and 13 losses.
