Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has summoned the FA (Ghana Football Association) to an urgent meeting o discuss Black Stars’ shocking 2021 Africa Cup of nations (AFCON) exit in the group stages next Friday, January 21.

It is the first time in their history that Ghana are eliminated from the group stages of an AFCON without a win.

And also the first time that Black Stars are leaving the competition at this stage since 2006.

A day after this shocking exit from the ongoing Africa Cup of nations in Cameroon, the Ministry of Sports quickly reacted and wants to know more about that failure and solve issues before the World Cup qualifiers play-offs and the AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast.

“The Ministry has summoned Ghana Football Association (GFA) to an emergency meeting scheduled for Friday, 21st January, 2022 to urgently discuss and take decisions aimed at salvaging the performance of Black Stars especially in the next set of games”, MOYS’ statement reads.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports is committed to take urgent decisions to ensure that Black Stars is restored to its status as a symbol of national pride for all Ghanaians and a powerhouse of African football.”

In addition, Black Stars are expected to return home on Thursday, January 20.
