COSAFA Inaugural Cosafa Schools Cup scheduled for South Africa

Inaugural Cosafa Schools Cup will take place in South Africa from October 28 to November 6, Southern Africa’s football governing body has announced.

The Council for Southern Africa Football Associations has announced the addition of the schools competition to its roaster of events for the 2022 season.

The schools competition will serve as the regional qualifier for the CAF Schools Champions Cup.

A statement from Cosafa secretariat says they have added the schools tournament to the list comprising Cosafa Cup, Cosafa qualifiers for CAF Women’s Champions League, Cosafa Women’s Championship, Cosafa Beach Soccer Championship, Cosafa Under-17 Boys’ and Girls’ Championships and Cosafa Under-20 for boys.

Cosafa Chief Executive Officer Sue Destombes has said been quoted saying she was looking forward to a very productive football calendar year.

 “This is another bumper year of tournaments, which includes not only our flagship men’s and women’s senior championships, but also four competitions that serve as qualifiers for continental events,” Destombes says.

We are delighted to have such a strong calendar in front of us and look forward to supplying players, coaches, match officials and administrators with incredible exposure to international competition.

Cosafa Cup will take place in Durban from July 5 to 17, the Women’s Champions League (August 4 to 14), the Cosafa Under-17 Boys’ and Girls’ Championship from November 30 to December 10.

The Cosafa Women’s Championship will be staged from August 31 to September 11 followed by the Cosafa Men’s Under-20 Championship, in Eswatini, from October 6 to 16.

The Cosafa Under-17 Boys’ and Girls’ Championships will run concurrently from November 30 to December 10.
