Friendly Finidi Hails The Work Of Super Eagles Coach And Expect At Least A Draw Against Ecuador

The Super Eagles are at hard work ahead of their friendly game against Ecuador. After their 2-1 loss to Mexico, Jose Peseiro is not leaving anything to chance as he drills the team in free kicks.

The Nigerian team is undergoing a new rebuilding process after the Portuguese trainer was hired to take over following the disastrous last few months where they failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup under interim coach Austin Eguavoen.

Finidi in an interview with NFF TV said the players are preparing for the game against Ecuador and are showing good understanding of what Jose Peseiro wants from them.

He said while a draw won’t be a bad result, a victory will be most acceptable.

We’ve had couple of sessions while in Dallas. And I think we liked it. We are building and the building process has started. And we’ll see how far we can push the players. It’s been good so far. Let’s see how the second game will go.” He said.

It’s not easy, just a week with the players and he’s giving the players more information. By the time we get to the qualifications, I think the players will know what’s expected of them in the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

“It’s still a building process and a draw won’t be a bad result. If we have the victory, we will take it. If we can have a draw and play a good game, we will all accept it and go back home and build on that.” Continued Finidi as he hails the work of the new head coach.

Nigeria have two 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches next week against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome & Principe, who won their appeal against Mauritius.
